♣ † I N S I D I O U S ┼ (spoilers)
Friday, April 1, 2011 || 9:30 PM I saw Insidious today. This film is one of those you have to see to decide if you like it or not. Personally, I enjoyed the film a lot, but then again there are some lame parts. The beginning credits for example and another when the father's in the further-plane living room. There could be a lot more, but when watching you have to remember something: from what I've gathered, Insidious is an homage to horror films. The music, parts of the style, and the opening are proof of that. But, the rest of the film is original and the scared stay fresh. James Wan does a fantastic job of using 'monster hidden behind very obvious place' and 'monster jumps out of here' without being overused or corny. The parts that feature these are actually the scariest, even if anticipated. For instance, the demon hiding in the corner. This idea is used so many times, but in Insidious, the part is terrifying. Why? Because the demon is there, hidden in the shadows, and you can't do anything about it. There's also the fact that the demon makes a clicking sound (due to his metal hands) before you can see it. I admit, the demon does looks like Darth Maul, but he's still scary. There's also that the demon has a tail and hooves for feet, which isn't very interesting, except there are some demons in mythology who feature hooved feet. The final downside is the actual dead people. They're not scary. At all. Outside of moving unpredictably and smiling for no reason, which I deduced was meant to be unnerving, there's nothing interesting about them. But then again, the film is rated 'pg-13' and I'm hoping that if it were 'r', the dead would be grades more terrifying. All in all, I enjoyed this movie and I leave you with one of the more unnerving parts: ![]() Labels: Movie: Insidious |

make me immortal with a kiss This space is for your profile. Mmm, perhaps you can tell them how you have a BAD HAIR DAY every other day, how your best friend started to talk like a Valley Girl, how you wished art ought to be banned from school, or you'd wish to have a mom as cool as LADY GAGA. You'd go to school in a bubble dress, and strut down the hallways as the basketball hotties gawk at how awesome you look. Make your profile as lame, unrealistic, stupid as you want. You can even say you're friends with a fat, immature man who lives on the rooftop of your house. Who claims he's the greatest at everything. It's YOUR blog, and tell them their criticism would be so not welcome. bolditalicunderline |
